Being a single dad can be tough. Not only are you usually separated from seeing your children everyday but you are also having to support them without enjoying a lot of the benefits that comes with being a father. And everyone knows that child support can be quite expensive and if you are not making enough money right now, you may be falling behind in your payments. But there are scholarships for single dads that help you pay for to further your education and train you to be able to make more money.

Not being able to be there for your kids when they need you or having to miss out on many of their “firsts”, school functions, or sports games can be depressing for any dad. But single dads seem to experience these situations even more. It is nearly impossible to be able to afford to pay your monthly support plus have the time and/or money to enjoy things with your kids if you are working a low-paying job. Because not only do you have to pay a certain amount of money each month to help raise your children, but you also have to pay all your own bills.

More and more dads are facing this situation, which is why many are returning to school using the scholarships for single dads. You may be thinking that there is no way you can afford to go to school when you are barely making ends meet now, but you can. The government will give you up to $9500 for school, if you qualify and apply for it. Plus there are even special scholarships that you may be able to receive.

A lot of colleges actually believe that a person who has lived a little and knows what it is like to struggle are better risks, so they have made special funds available for them. One such state is Arkansas, who has a single parent scholarship fund just for single parents.
