Short HistoryInitially his name was San Benito County Junior College and was renamed Gavilan College in 1963, when a new community college district was formed merging with San Benito County Santa Clara County. Finally, the College moved to its present location during the 1966.CampusCampus was expanded in 1997 with the satellite sites still in Hollister and Morgan Hill to increase the main campus. The land was purchased in Coyote Valley and San Benito Community in 2008 for further development of the college to create additional campus to meet growing demand from students for admission to university and college academy education.

Early AcademyAn early School has appointed Dr. TJ Owens Gilroy Early College Academy or GECA has been created within the campus in 2007. Students can take two years of college in four years of high-school diploma and may become, with a maximum of sixty transferable units. Thus, students from GECA between the four-year college or university as a young man rather than freshman.AccreditationWestern Association of Schools and Colleges (WASCO) has granted accreditation to the college for six years in OfferedDegrees 2007.

Programs and majors offered by the college includes the administration of justice, aviation, paramedics, carpentry apprenticeship, life sciences and health sciences, business, child development, communication, interpersonal communication, computer graphics and design, cosmetology, digital media, technology, fire, mathematics,, Hispanic, philosophy, physical education, social sciences, visual arts and entertainment, and education in general. In addition, the Academy offers many services for obtaining degrees.

Admission EligibilityGavilan Online College follows the principle of open admission to all eligible high school graduates or those with high school or GED Proficiency. non-high graduates can take general education or specialized training courses available. However the Board is required for these students. Concurrent enrollment opportunities are offered for students of secondary school. Entry is open for students of state and foreign students, but must pass the TOEFL and score a minimum of 501-550 or 173-223 points computer based.
