Let’s Talk About Scholarships
By Sylvia Gaston aka The Scholarship Lady
If scholarships are the doorknobs that can turn a student’s dream of going to college into a reality then LET’S TALK ABOUT SCHOLARSHIPS has to be the pathway that leads to the doorknobs.
It contains everything that high school students need to know from A-Z to help them locate and apply for scholarships. It is a simple-to-read, easy-to-understand, user-friendly, scholarship guidebook that will prove to be an invaluable asset to every high school student in America. LET’S TALK ABOUT SCHOLARSHIPS will also be a welcomed reference guide in every bookstore, library and high school throughout the United States.
THE SCHOLARSHIP LADY’S BIO
I am a student at the University of Southern California majoring in English with emphasis in Language and Literature.
I have worked as a freelance writer for Los Angeles Watts Times, Education Section, submitting weekly articles relating to college and scholarship preparation. I have also volunteered as a college and financial aid advisor for Verbum Dei High School and the Watts Labor Community Action Committee (WLCAC).
I am a wife, mother and grandmother and I serve as a college and financial aid advisor to most of my family members and friends.
After searching and locating money for my son to attend Stanford University several years ago, I decided to compile all the information I gathered from the search into a book that would teach middle and high school students and parents how to locate and apply for college scholarships.
The title of the book is Let’s Talk About Scholarships, A Guide to Help Middle and High School Students Locate and Apply for College Scholarship (Let’s Talk). Let’s Talk was published in February 2002 by Infinity Publishers, a print-on-demand publishing company.
I conduct free, personal, college and scholarship consulting for middle and high school students who purchase Let’s Talk. The consultations are held in person, by telephone and on the Internet. I also conduct free workshops and seminars at middle and high schools, community organizations and churches throughout the State of California.
Because I understand the need for parents and students to have access to current information about scholarships and financial aid, I have constructed a web site to assist them with the entire scholarship search process. The web site address is www.thescholarshiplady.com. Students and parents may obtain all pertinent information about how to apply for and locate college scholarships, as well other information relating to college preparation..
Commencing October 2002, I will be hosting a radio/internet show titled The Scholarship Lady Show.
The show will air on Voiceamerica.com every Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. I also am putting together a newsletter for parents and students titled “Scholarship News.” The newsletter will be distributed to all public and private middle and high schools throughout the United States. Additionally, I am putting together, Hispanic, a television talk show titled Let’s Talk About Scholarships so that parents, students, scholarship providers, educators, etc. may have the opportunity to participate in debates and discussions about the pleasures and pains of college and scholarship preparation.
You may purchase books from the publishing company – Infinity Publishers.
The web site is www.infinitypublishers.com or www.buybooksontheweb.com
